We say that worship is about the glory of God.
You probably use the phrase quite often: “It’s all about you Jesus”. But oftentimes our worship experiences look nothing like what we sing.
There’s a stage. A band. A talented vocalist. Cool songs. Entertaining lights.
Where is the glory of God?
There’s a tendency I notice among worship leaders.
It’s a love affair with songs. But if all you focus on in songs, you’ve got worship leading backwards.
There are dangers to being front and center all the time.
The stage isn’t merciful to the human heart.
You no longer answer altar calls.
You no longer engage with the entire service. You check out, do your own thing.
How can you test if someone really loves to lead worship?
Have them do it for free.
I realize that there are thousands of worship leaders out there who don’t get paid for what they do. I would actually venture to say that most worship leaders are bi-vocational.
